So Twisted For Romance...

It all started on Sunday, September 17th, when I kept seeing tons of books on Bookstagram.

Let me start by saying, I love books! I love to read. Ever since I was younger, I would always have a book in my hand, no matter where I was going. I could read a book in a matter of days. That was when I was younger....adulting tended to put reading on the backburner. If I wanted to read a book, it would take me close to a month to get it done or I would wind up picking the book up and putting it down shortly after.

Now that I am in a new state and working different hours, I can finally say I am ready to DIVE IN. Anywho, I'm rambling. Now that I can enjoy reading, I want to take full advantage of it before it starts to get busy come holiday season.

Saturday, I saw a lot of talk about books that I've read recently, particularly the Colleen Hoover novels. I've read quite a few and I did enjoy them. I fell in love with Never, Never, which she co-wrote with Tarryn Fisher and I started to seek more of her books. I stopped after her book, Maybe, Now, primarily because I guessed how it was going to end after 6 chapters. I wanted something new to read and after scrolling through a great deal of various bookstagrammers, I saw a series that interested me.

Ana Huang's Twisted series piqued my interest and after seeing some of the reviews from fellow book lovers, I had to get the series to check out. That Saturday, I was busy on Amazon ordering the 4 books, Twisted Love, Twisted Games, Twisted Hate and Twisted Lies. Sunday afternoon, 3 out of the 4 came, and after reading more thoughts on the series, I started with Twisted Games.

It did not DISAPPOINT!

I loved the characters of Rhys Larsen and Princess Bridget von Ascheberg. For a spicy romance story, it has a great story. The language didn't bother me, nor the intense love scenes, that's why I was able to read it within 2 days. I loved reading this book, because you truly can picture all of the places that both Bridget and Rhys were at; whether it was in her college apartment, out on the town with her friends or at the castle. No matter where they were, you could take yourself with them in every scene.

REVIEW

Rhys was definitely brooding and guarded, I loved the description of him. Black hair, gunmetal eyes and a scar that was jagged through one of his eyebrows. Everything about this character was worth wanting to know more about. What happened to him to become so guarded and closed off to love. It was only a matter time before he'd find himself enthralled by Bridget.

I loved Bridget. She didn't back down. I love that Ana didn't write he as being a 'dumb blonde', who acted like a teenager around Rhys. I loved that she was conflicted by the responsibilities she'd face as a Princess, who would be set to be Queen. I loved everything about this character.

One scenerio that stood out and caught my attention was earlier on in the story. Bridget wanted to go to an event that she and her friends, Jules, Ava and Stella planned for in advance, but because she could be compromised and be put in danger, (due to an event that took place earlier on), Rhys, despite holding tight to his reins of not letting her out of his sight and keep her safe, brought the event to her, decorating her room with a tent, decorations, snacks. The whole nine. Even when he feigned that her friend, Jules helped him, and she found out it was him and him alone; that made my heart melt.

The Backstory

Ana did a great job in having a backstory for Rhys. I loved how he shared about his homelife with Bridget and mentions earlier on how his mother fell in love with someone that was of great wealth. I loved how Rhys was shown not being at all interested in going or staying in Eldora and overtime, as it is revealed why, and how despite that reason, he still couldn't stay away from Bridget, it made me really adore Rhys. The reveal about him toward the end of the book made me smile (I don't plan on spoiling for those who have NOT read the book yet).

The Spice

The heat was on the minute Rhys took one look at Bridget. It was a different vibe when Bridget, who is a princess is called Princess by the handsome Rhys. I could only imagine how she felt every time he spoke those two words to her. They were both in for it the more they looked at one another; and in so many ways, he was possessive of her; he had already staked his claim and they weren't even going out yet.

A girl reading can only imagine them as Bridget with Rhys... it's a first in a long time reading where the male lead tells the woman he's hot for to 'crawl' to him or having a good time in an office or in the throne room. Talk about feeling the heat. But don't be fooled. Between all the fire that's going on between Bridget and Rhys, there's a beautiful love story being read. The spice is just the icing on the cake!

I give this book 5 stars because it was the 1st in the series I read first and I'm already a fan of Ana Huang. As she pointed out, start off with the Twisted Love first, because she did include characters from the 1st book in Twisted Games, since there is a slight time shift between stories.

For those who have read, what are your thoughts? Love it? Liked It? Not So Much? Whatever you share, I'm all for.
