BOOK REVIEW

.

Salt was the age gap trope I had misconceptions about and I’m glad they were all wrong!

I’ve read age gap, but not to this level and I’ll be honest in saying, I was very nervous and very on the fence. I am glad I gave this a chance.

I love the conflict between Everett and Cameron. Here is a man, who has physically watched her grow from a young girl into a beautiful woman. He promised his best friend, who’s her father he’d be there for her; to take care of her. But now that she’s an adult; just what kind of care does he want to provide?

Cameron isn’t like most FMC. She doesn’t come off overly bratty. She knows what she wants and goes about it in a way that drives Everett crazy. Her honesty and out her feelings is refreshing, which helps make their pull toward one another beautifully done.

Salt doesn’t give off gross vibes. It doesn’t come off as predatory; Everett is written as genuinely caring for Cameron, but worries of the ramifications of letting her in emotionally and physically.

The most pivotal scene that gave me a sign that Everett was dropping his guard and his reluctance is the night of Cameron’s birthday. This gradually opens the floodgates to emotions that neither of them can or want to shut off.

L. A. Ferro creates so much family tensions, and puts each supporting character in the mix of being supportive or being the thorn in their relationship. Each character makes up a puzzle l found myself putting together for an even bigger story.

A beautifully written story that has all the elements of being a 5 star read.
