TEMPTING ~ BELLA MATTHEWS

.

BOOK REVIEW

.

I absolutely dove in head first into this book! Bella Matthews did not disappoint with her next installment of those Kroydon hotties, and I want more.

I’ve read the majority of her Playing to Win series, and when she began her next series, Red Lips & White Lies, I was absolutely giddy.

Here are some of the things I love about Bella’s books:

💋 She does a fantastic job of keeping readers in the know of the characters & who they are family to.

💋 She keeps the girl squad together and raunchy as ever

💋 Bella doesn’t stray from throwing in those “I didn’t see that coming” moments

Nixon Sinclair won me over and his love for Kenzie flourishes even when they don’t know exactly what they want in their lives. He’s ride or die for his family but he’d move heaven and earth for the girl he fell for when they were teens.

Mackenzie resonates with many young women who don’t want their hearts broken. Losing family is a hard pill to swallow and trying to move forward in life can be hard to do when fear of loss plagues you. That’s how Kenzie feels, and I fully understood. The thing I loved about her, however, was the fact that she was willing to trust, but only with Nixon. She felt inner peace when she was with him, and in many ways, she grew more certain of what she wanted and who she wanted to be with.

Nixon had so many things coming at him while he was gravitating toward Kenzie. He had to deal with feeling like he was in the shadows of his sports legacy family. He was dealing with a best friend who pretty much gave him the “touch her and die speech” when it came his sister, and he was dealing with what it could be like to put someone else in the forefront rather than his sports career.

I couldn’t stop laughing when reading this book. Easton was the scene stealer in this story, and my man was ready to fight. It was like he was itching for Nixon to mess up so he could beat him down.

When he said “Say the word and I’ll kick his ass, sis”, or “Kenz, are you okay? Did he f*ck up already?” I was in tears laughing because he was ready to beat Nixon down!

Second scene stealer is Leo, Nix’s brother. He just knew how to push Nixon’s buttons, on the ice and off. I so want to read a story about him. He was a hot mess in a very good way!

I absolutely loved seeing the family in the mix when it came to Nixon and Kenzie “faking” a relationship. With families that run the majority of Kroydon Hills, Nix and Kenzie should have know that they all could smell B.S.. The parental figures always know.

Beyond one of the best reads that started August in the right direction!
