I am always in my feelings when I read a Hannah Cowan book. I am either laughing out loud or I’m feeling very vulnerable: and I love every minute of it.

Chasing Home, which FINALLY gives us our cinnamon roll cowboy, Johnny! I loved Johnny so much in Catching Sparks, and his friendship with Garrison, so it’s only right for Johnny to find his lady love this time me around.

When Aurora Bennett comes to Cherry Peak, she’s not coming to find romance. She’s coming to find answers; answers to a painful past she didn’t ask for. When Johnny locked eyes on her at Peakside, she knew she was in trouble.

Aurora resonates with every single person who has ever felt unwanted. My entire soul hurt for her; the feeling of betrayal by someone she never knew. Someone who was to be a part of her life but chose to erase her. Hannah is the mistress of writing relatable subject matters that make a connection between reader and character, and I was connected to every emotion Aurora laid out.

I’m so glad the C.P. Babes ( yes, that’s my name for them and I’m sticking to it) initiated Aurora into the group. I love that Poppy and Anna were still focused but scaled back to really put Bryce in the driver’s seat. Bryce and Aurora are one and the same in some ways when it comes to cool exterior; but they easily and kindly can call each other out without hurting feelings. Bryce was what Aurora needed in friendship.

Johnny displays so much love and care for those in his world. I found the introduction of his refreshing. Plus you can never go wrong with the parents of every couple in Cherry Peak, Wade and Eliza, to continue to nurture with a firm hand.

I hate to say it, but Garrison and Brody just slid down the podium into 2nd & 3rd place. Johnny ran away with the gold. He is everything a girl deserves in a boyfriend. Hannah just took the #1 spot for best read for the summer.
