BOOK. REVIEW

.

Hard Hat Hottie had me feeling so many emotions, and I wasn’t ready for them. When I started this book, I made the assumption that this would be another spicy romance , especially with the title. I was wrong.

I found myself connecting with Harrison and Harlow. These two both had so much love to give, only to feel slighted, or taken advantage of. Everyone has felt that they weren’t good enough. My heart tugged for both of them.

Harrison was such a good son to the only parent who loved him from the very start. His bond with his mother was heartwarming. She was his everything, yet I felt that Harrison’s reluctance to find love was because of the fear he had of what would happen if his mother left him.

Harry had wonderful friends and a great relationship with his brother but I wanted to reach in the book and shake him to wake him up. He was too quick with excuses, and the “what ifs”.

I loved Harlow. A single mother wearing many hats. She works at the hospital, she’s in the National Guard, she’s a ride or die loyal friend and she’s a hands on mother. I loved that through her tough exterior, you see cracks trickling down, revealing that she’s vulnerable. Where Harry doesn’t want to disappoint the one person who loves him unconditionally, Harlow refuses to reach out to others when in need

Harlow has the best girl squad! Sadie and Shay aren’t shy in their support for her. The three of them made me laugh and they made me cry when they surrounded her with their love and support. Letti’s not forget Harrison’s construction buddies and Charlene, who doesn’t mince words.

The big thing that frustrated me was how quickly Harrison and Harlow were willing to keep one another at a distance, letting miscommunication and assumption keeping them apart. I wanted these two to wake up and just move forward.

I loved Hard Hat Hottie, and I love that L. M. Fox wrote a book where so many emotions could be felt
