THE NANNY BOOK REVIEW

I love a single dad story that actually has a great deal of interaction with the child of that dad, so when I read The Nanny by Lana Ferguson, I fell head over heels with Sophie!
Aiden, is such a golden retriever for his daughter; and his love for her really shines in this book. He wants to be the best father for her, but doesn’t know how. With the loss of her mother, Aiden does his best to juggle work balance and family time, but feels lost. His hiring Cassie to be Sophie’s nanny is the right step in so many way and watching it slowly unfold was beautiful to see.
Cassie, who desperately wanted to shed her (Only)Fans image, takes the job as nanny and finds herself chipping at the wall Sophie has built around her. She also finds herself being a sounding board and the voice of reason to Aiden, who begins to see just how much his daughter loves and misses him.
Cassie and Aiden clearly were attracted to one another from the start, even if they didn’t see it themselves. The awkward conversations, the long pauses, the way she kept studying him and the way he was trying to “avoid” her by keeping out of sight. You just knew there was attraction between them.
WHAT I LOVED
I love the relationship between Sophie and Cassie. Having Sophie confide how she feels regarding the loss of her mother, Rebecca and how she misses spending time with her dad was the right step in having them form a strong bond.
Wanda is a riot! She’s the crass sexed up version of Blanche Devereux if they ever did a remake! In her own way, she was Cassie’s moral compass in terms of being honest with Aiden about their connection.
Aiden & Cassie were so good together! Disneyland was an adventure for them more than it was for Sophie. Right after that night in a bathroom at an Airbnb, neither of them could turn down their heat; all the while, however, thinking on how it could affect Sophie if things were to change between the two of them.
WHAT I HATED
I couldn’t stand Iris. At all. From the minute she made her presence known, I just saw envy boarding through her. Yes, Sophie loved her and they have a great relationship, however, her treatment and the way she judged Aiden, and then initially judged Cassie showed me at the start that either she was envious that Cassie was in their lives and not her, or that she wanted to be in a relationship with Aiden and when he didn’t reciprocate, she started to trash him and his parenting skills.
I was glad that Cassie in her own way, helped bridge the gap in their relationship. For a minute, and I know I’m not the only one, but when Aiden and Cassie were having sex after sending Sophie to the movies with Iris, I truly thought they’d be busted by Iris. I was surprised the woman didn’t have a key of her own🙄.
FAVORITE QUOTES:
Aiden: “I just don’t think you should ever imply that you aren’t good enough for someone… Least of all me.”
“You have to be quiet. Can you do that?”
Cassie: “I couldn’t do it anymore. After you disappeared. I know it’s probably silly, but … I missed you, and I thought that you had dropped off the face of the earth, and I just…I couldn’t do it anymore.”
I would re-read this book again. Lana Ferguson did a phenomenal job in not only a plot but also hot romance.
STORY: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
