OMG! I fell in love with this book! I love that L. B. Martin written a story where there not only a solid story about loss and coming back together, but also shared what it was like for a war veteran coming back to civilization with so much pain on his shoulders.
Samuel Knight was not only best friend, but family to Matthew Hillary, but he also was a secret protector of Marcy, Matthew’s sister. L. B. weaved such a beautiful story about their friendship; not just between Matt and Sam, but also between Marcy and Sam.
I have never read a contemporary romance that dealt with heavy triggers of PTSD and survivor’s guilt, however, it gave me a better understanding of Sam’s character.
I loved Marcy. I loved how much she loved her brother. She wore her heart and her emotions on her sleeve, yet, she held it together despite her grief to help others in her life. Her love for Samuel was more than a mere crush and I loved how throughout the book, I fully understood.
I loved the spice in The Last Knight. A part of me wanted to have a little bit of a backstory on Samuel’s dominance and his various kinks. Regardless, the heat between Marcy and Samuel did make me blush on occasion.
By far a wonderfully written story that locks you in from the beginning all the way to the very last page.
