BOOK REVIEW: THE GRAHAM EFFECT by Elle Kennedy

I fell in love instantly with the romance between Briar U’s star hockey player Garrett Graham and his love Hannah “Wellsy” Wells in @ellekennedy33’s Off-Campus series, The Deal! So when Elle came out with a new novel bringing their daughter, Gigi Graham into the spotlight, input it on my Must Have Must Read list!

I. Love. This. Book! This is as the ultimate Grumpy vs Sunshine story, and it did not disappoint!

Gigi Graham, takes after her father in terms of her love of hockey; but wants to achieve her success on her own and not by the famous last name.

Then you have bad-boy hockey player with a painful chip on his shoulders, Luke Ryder, who is Briar University’s new co-captain. He’s got his eyes on the summer coaching position that the legendary Garrett Graham is offering to one of Briar’s best in hockey.

These two upon meeting create sparks, but not of the romantic sense. Luke’s broody behavior isn’t Gigi’s cup of tea; and Luke initially believes her to be riding on last name Graham for all she has.

Now, however, they need the help of each other to accomplish what they both so desperately want; Gigi, a spot on Team USA and Ryder Garrett’s coaching opportunity. What starts off as a “You help me, I help you” situation gradually pulls the two of them into a simmering attraction that eventually ignites.

I love that Gigi wants to be her OWN person, without the help of her famous father. Just like him, she wants to be the best, but by her own doing. When she and Ryder spend more and more time together, you see a change in both of them. Ryder gradually thaws with his cool demeanor around her, while she discovers that she can let her guard down and share her feelings with no judgement from him.

This was such a beautifully written story; and let’s not forget their 🔥🔥🔥scenes. Talk about bringing the spice!

Bringing characters from the past back in this new book made me smile. Seeing the names Logan, Tucker and Dean (just name a few) brought warmth to my heart.
