Powerless, the 3rd installment in the Chestnut Springs romance novels, tells the story of childhood friends, Jasper Gervais and Sloane Winthrop.

Sloane, who’s the cousins of Beau, Cade, Rhett and Violet Eaton, goes to visit their farm every summer. It is there that the 10 year old first lays eyes on Jasper, abandoned by his family after a tragic accident, is instantly taken in by the Eaton family. Soon after, Sloane snd Jasper develop a close frirndship; but over time, it soon becomes clear that Sloane is looking at Jasper in a way that is more than a friendship. I loved this story so much! Jasper (Jas, as Sloane calls him affectionately) may be moody and broody but he would go above it all for Sunny (his name for Sloane), even whisking her away from a wedding to a douche she wants no parts of. The more time spent together reveals so much and Elsie bringing to life Jasper’s painful past to help formulate an understanding as to why he stays guarded; while she lays out how Sloane may have it all, but how from the beginning of her teen years, was groomed to live a life that a controlling father has set up for her.
